May is Preservation Month in Georgia
Activities sponsored by HPD include:
- Preservation Month Lecture Series at Rhodes Hall, Atlanta in partnership with the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation every Thursday in May. Lectures and light refreshments are free and begin at 6pm.
- 2012 "Downtown Georgia" photo contest seeks photos of the state's diverse historic downtown buildings and streetscapes by May 24.

This year's theme is "Commemorating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812." Visit the Society for Georgia Archaeology's website for more information and events, including their spring meeting and tour of Fort Daniel in Lawrenceville.
